Through the lense of Jean-Daniel Lorieux

I wanted to share with you some photos of the very talanted fashion photographer that I love ! What touches me the most is the tremendous sensuality in his images !

Born and bred in Paris, Lorieux embarked on a career in fashion photography at the city’s progressive Studio Harcourt, before swiftly ascending the ranks of glossy style titles such as Vogue Paris and L’Official during the 1970s, where his alluring, high-contrast view on life and style defined the era.

‘The visual aesthetic of Lorieux’s work bridges the optimistic exuberance of the 1970s and the cultures of new consumerism in the 1980s and 90s. Inspired by pop art, his signature photographs combine high contrast colors with graphic shapes. Working with some of the top names of his time, including Claudia Schiffer, Stephanie Seymour, Karen Mulder, Milla Jovovich and Linda Evangelista, his models bear feminine physiques that radiating a confidently overt sexuality.’ Alicia Reuter

The exhibition ‘Retro Projection’ during the FIAC in Paris

Firouz Farman-Farmaian presented his striking solo exhibition ‘Retro Projection’ at the GRK Gallery in Paris during the Fiac.

Retro Projection

6 photos from the Smithsonian Institute taken during the Qajar era has been chosen to represent this exhibition. 6 windows of the past, transformed via a process of print and layering of natural pigments and Majorelle blue. It is a signed limited edition of 12 prints (1.00×0.70cm) of each of the 6 original photos, presented in white contemporary frames.

The pieces are destined to be seen (and reseen), to model the past in a new and contemporary way. Retro Projection is a work on identity, a meditation of a lost Orient…
