Just back from the incredible city that never sleeps ! My first time in NYC was a total success, I mean what a city. I will share some of the highlights from the trip with you here.
We were obviously in NYC to set up the exhibit ‘Memory&Future Future&Memory’ featuring works by Firouz FarmanFarmaian and Sassan Behnam-Bakhtiar at the Shirin Gallery in Chelsea. The exhibition curated by Janet Rady, explores two Iranian artists’ different interpretations of memory and the past.
Chelsea has the highest concentration of art galleries I’ve ever seen ! Apart from our exhibit we had time to visit some very cool galleries such as Taymour Grahne, Gagosian and the David Zwirner galleries to name a few. You could spend entire days scouting the New York art scene it’s so diverse !
We decided to stay in Queens, one of the most multi cultural places on earth. You could discover food from a different country every day and it’s a quite tranquil place to live in, making a nice difference from the hectic ambiance of Manhattan.
For thrift stores you need to check out Bushwick where all cool, cheap and alternative stores are. I completely fell in love with this area; full of artist studios, street art, tags, rundown brick buildings and shopping. If you need a break, check out the diner Tina’s Place, an institution in Bushwick, open all day. We loved it there and the staff was just fantastic. We will be back !
For thrifts stores in Bushwick : Beacon’s Closet / Fox & Fawn / LTrain Vintage / “COLLECTIONS”
