A Richard Neutra Tribute

Richard Joseph Neutra (April 8, 1892 – April 16, 1970) was an Austrian American architect. Living and building for the majority of his career in Southern California, he came to be considered among the most important modernist architects. Neutra combined Bauhaus modernism with Southern California building traditions, creating a unique adaptation.
I chose 2 photos of his work for my tribute, but there’s much, much more for those of you like me, that love his work.

Dating from 1956 and built for poet Josephine Ain, this house is an elegant essay on indoor-outdoor living.

The one-story residence, completed in 1959, is all about elegant intersections, its glass-walled living areas melding with a shimmering ornamental pool.
